February Cut & Print Out Tomorrow

Pheww... that was easier than usual.

Don't exactly know why, but putting together the February issue of Cut & Print Magazine was just like clockwork this month. Staff got their articles in on time, Kimberly helped me lay it out and then it was over.

The cover is exceptional this month as Daniel did a great job employing the "Best of Vancouver Island" theme we've got going on this month, while Kim really added some great new ideas with the pages that she laid out.

This issue is quite the content hog. We've got stories on the Victoria Film Festival (Jason Whyte), a look at the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival (Me) and an indepth preview of the Global Film Festival (Shirley Goldberg), taking place this month in Nanaimo.

This another great issue, one that everybody can be proud of! The issue will be on-line shortly (probably Saturday) and of course, we'll try to post some new reviews on the weekend, but I've got a feeling that only Annaopolis will find itself getting reviewed and that's only if I'm in a good mood. I mean, it's that or Big Mamma's House 2 or Nanny McPhee. On second thought... maybe there won't be any new reviews on-line this weekend. I wouldn't hold your breath for one, at least.

February 2006 Issue Nears Completion

The February issue is nearing compeletion and in record time this month. This one is shaping up nicely and were just waiting on a few articles to get this one completed.

The Vancouver Island Short Film Festival moved its date from December to this weekend, which is nice, because that means that we'll be able to cover the festival when we were initially not going to. The festival is getting some good local coverage in the local daily newspapers and is shaping up to be a well run event. We'll see what happens and you'll be able to read about in the next issue of Cut & Print Magazine.

Munich - Controversial or Overrated?

Since the Brokeback Mountain commentary by Laura turned out such wonderful debate, I thought I'd make a little post on here about Munich.

Here's a film that I thought was masterfully put together. An enganging story, that doesn't really paint any side as right (although, I could see an arguement that argued that the Jew side of the equation might have been a bit on the soft side).

What do people think who've seen the film? Is it Steven Speilberg's best work in years or is it nothing more than the action films he's made in the past with a gloss of timely political subject matter?

I think it stands out, easily, as one of the best films of the year.

Cut & Print Gears Up For A Return to Monthly Publishing

Well, some of you asked for it and some of you didn't!

Cut & Print Magazine is going back to the monthly publishing grind. Why? Because we can and we want to. Where else are you going to get your Movie Reviews, CD reviews and such? The Internet you say? I have no idea what you're talking about!

Anyway, there's a lot of great stuff to look forward to in the upcoming issue!

Amanda Davis is going to be checking out the Vancouver Island Short Film Festival and reporting on that, while a new writer, Kimberly Dawson is going to be looking at Nanaimo author Ron Cyr.

It's shaping up to be another fun and exciting issue. Can't wait for you all to read it.

Expect the February issue to hit the streets on January 31st, 2005.
