Cut & Print Updates

Quick update for those who want to know!

Cut & Print Magazine is welcoming two new people to the ever expanding team. The two new people will be joining the advertising team. Until the 16th, their names will remain secret. Why? Because I don’t know their last names right now because their resumes just aren’t in front of me. Lazy? Yes. Unorganized? Yes. Completely heading in the right direction? Absolutely.

Can’t wait to get the team started selling some advertising so we can start paying the writers and the other new people we’ve hired.

Speaking of which, I can now announce some names for some of you.

Kimberly Strain is going to be heading up the layout design starting in February (I still get one last month laying out the magazine. Sort of a going away party for myself). Kimberly has been writing the Vintage Voice since the inception of the magazine, among some features etc. she has written. Kimberly was vital in getting the magazine started way back in May 2004 and she now has the time to fit in layout full time. Welcome aboard in an expanded capacity Kimberly.

And again, speaking of expanded capacity, Daniel Peters, the graphics design guru who has handled the covers and ads for the last couple of issues is going to be doing the covers, ads and other graphic stuff full time for us (and by full time, we mean we might throw some bribes his way if we ever get a bank roll going).

And, since I like full disclosure, we’re currently just making enough to print. The new ad people are going to tackle the magazine “selling out” so we can get some cash flow going. Flow that will include the often mentioned but never materializing magazine racks and sellable accessories like stickers, t-shirts and other great stuff.

Let’s cross our fingers that we can make some money. Cross them good and hard.

Hi

I'm no longer in Nanaimo, how is the Indie film scene going there? Are you going to be doing a piece on the film fest?

We'd love too, but, because of the December/January publishing date, and the December 3rd being the film festival, we're in a bind. We can't publish it in the new issue but it'll be old news in Jan.

So, no, probably not.
But, good news is that we're going back to monthly starting in Feb. so that we can cover things such as this, when the dates don't line up properly.

Thanks for reading.

No worries

Just keep promoting Island Filmmakers, you've got a good platform to do so with.
