Superman Returns Letter to be Published

Yeah, sometimes I'm a loser and I take things too far. I'll admit that to anyone.

After viewing Superman Returns, I read a number of reviews I didn't like. I respect each of the writers opinions but one review in particular said that it was prepared for the sticks and stones. So I wrote a very quick stone that went like this -

Here’s a stone,

Horrible review – Superman Returns is worth its weight in Superhero gold. Spider what?

Regards,

Jake

It sure wasn't pretty but it got the job done. Now, I've gotten a letter back from the movie editor of The Naperville Sun/Sun Publications stating that they want to use my one line letter in their publication! What did I say? Of course! the Spider what? line is gold. I even told them they can make fun of me all they want. I'm a good sport about it.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The review in question can be found HERE

Well Eddie,

I haven't answered your valid points because I don't know when you wrote them. This is the first comment I've seen from you.

As for it being a flop - I don't see it that way. Not until the final tally on Tuesday. Then we'll deciede if it's a flop or not. One Wednesday, one Friday etc. do not make an entire box office run. Who knows, the movie could have legs.

But then again, I don't care that the movie is a flop or not. Not one! Why not? Because I got to see the Superman movie that I wanted. Call it selfish but at the end of the day, Superman Returns was the movie I wanted it to be.

I wanted it to reference past Superman films. It did just that.

I wanted to see Superman display his awesome strength and powers. It did just that.

The film is a homerun for me. Yes, I am a fanboy, one who is very happy to have finally seen Superman Returns.

As for You, Me and Dupree, the film looks marginally funny from the trailer. I hope Owen Wilson pulls it out because he's one of my favorite comedic actors going right now. Just hilarious, always. See Shanghai Noon for one of his best performances.

Also, I'm looking forward to The Devil Wears Prada! I love Anne Hathaway. I think she has a real watchability in all her roles (loved Ella Enchanted).

Thanks for writing and showing such class!

I have to say, I enjoy the fact that Vincent Gallo was included in the comment.

My barbs aren't trying to cut deep because I obviously don't take this stuff as serious as you.

Honestly, you're entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine. I'm not forcing you to read it. I'm really not.

As for the Wes Anderson movies, I've seen all 4 of these movies that you speak. There really nothing to get up in arms about at least when it comes to Owen Wilson. He's awesome, don't get me wrong, as his turn in Bottle Rocket so deftly displayed but Life Aquatic? I sure didn't enjoy that one.

Shanghai Noon is just a fun movie that ably displays Wilson's ability to carry a movie.

I find the Kevin Smith comment funny, because, yup, I'm a Smith fanboy also! Although, Clerks 2 just doesn't seem like a good idea, we'll see in July.

As for the complete lack of anything that isn't Hollywood related, I'd love to know how you know my movie watching habits? I try to catch almost everything I can. It's just that I only tend to review things that can be seen by a Nanaimo audience in a Nanaimo theatre. It doesn't mean I haven't watched movie x or y.

Again, thanks for writing.
